B Cellars Blend 24 Napa Valley Red Blend 2005
MSRP: $48.00
For 2005 this Blend is firing on all cylinders. This "Super Tuscan" inspired wine with a touch of Petite Sirah shows a wonderful, deep black/blue color. The Sangiovese from Juliana vineyard in Pope Valley thrives in Tuscan like conditions and enjoys most of its days bathed in the sun. True to our philosophy we blended this venerable varietal with two powerful and traditional Bordeaux varietals, Merlot and Cabernet from Biale & To Kalon vineyards. This wine possesses wonderful red rock candy, cassis and red stone fruit aromas with a touch of French Oak vanillin for thickening the nose. On the palate are more bright cherry fruit and impressive acid and tannin structure.

Tasting Notes:
All wines need character no matter the appellation, vintage or price. This holds very true in the '05 Blend 24. I think of it as a well heeled Italian countryman. This wine is crafted to be enjoyed by all no matter how sophisticated the palate. We strove to offer our trademark Cabernet balanced by the complexity of the Sangiovese and Petite Sirah, and to craft a stimulating wine you won't want to put down.
Harvest Notes:
The fruit is hung on the vine until it reaches its optimum ripeness of both flavor and Brix. It is then carefully hand harvested early in the cool hours of the morning into /5-ton macro bin boxes.
Winemaker Notes:
Wow! Our 2005 Blend 24 is firing on all cylinders. This "Super Tuscan" wine style with a touch of Petite Sirah shows a wonderful, deep black/blue color. The venerable Sangiovese gives this wine it's Tuscan allure. The traditional Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet & Merlot give it its power. On the nose it possesses wonderful red rock candy, cassis and red stone fruit aromas with a touch of French Oak vanillin for thickening the nose. The palate presents bright cherry fruit, a hint of earth and impressive acid and tannin structure. This is not a "heady" or "syrupy" wine but one with an array of old world influenced flavors and fine balance. Cellared properly this wine will be enjoyed over the next eight years.
Vineyard Notes:
The venerable ToKalon & Pelissa Oakville Cabernets in this blend offer a gentle, integrated black cherry fruit component, while the Georges III has a bit more rusticity. The two blended offer muscle as well as finesse. Biale Merlot gives lively acidity and a hint of minerals. The ripe strawberry jam component with balance comes from the Julianna Sangiovese, and the Petite Sirah from the regarded Moss Creek offers the saturated color and the firm tannins giving this wine it's food friendly style.
Just as the blending of two or more world-class wines can make an even more palatable potion, the uniting of two over-achieving entrepreneurs can create a union that is more effective than either one alone. When B Cellars' founder Jim Borsack first encountered his partner Duffy Keys at a fourth of July barbeque in 2002, both executives were exploring new life paths in the wine business. Over a drop of the good stuff, of course, their journeys became intertwined when they discovered that they not only shared the same tastes in wine but were also on parallel missions to acquire vineyard property. In the spring of 2003, they scrapped their solo endeavors, formed B Cellars, and got serious about structuring a first-rate wine company predicated upon two absolute principles: first, to produce exceptional artisan wines, season after season, by employing a multi-vineyard strategy, and second, to develop distinct flavors by blending wines from mutually complementary varietals. The B Cellars name and logo stand for a commitment to seasonless excellence. The letter 'b' and the degree symbol ยบ refer to BRIX, a wine term which defines the optimal sugar/alcohol content in grape juice that indicates the potential for greatness.
